Tate Britain on 30 October 2026, speaking on “The Pre-Raphaelites and Pixie: Pamela Colman Smith and the Art of Tarot.” Society of Antiquaries of London at Burlington House on 6 November 2026, speaking on “The Afterlife of a Pack: The Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot in Print and Use.”

October and November are shaping up to be a busy few weeks, with three Friday appearances in London involving podcasting, tarot history and research.

23 October 2026: MCM London

I’ll be at MCM London at ExCeL with press access, recording material for the Tarot Interviews podcast.

Tarot Interviews uses randomly drawn tarot cards to generate questions, creating conversations that can move in directions neither guest nor interviewer can predict in advance. At MCM, I’ll be taking the format into the convention itself and recording with guests on site.

30 October 2026: Tate Britain

A week later, I’ll be speaking at Tate Britain on:

“The Pre-Raphaelites and Pixie: Pamela Colman Smith and the Art of Tarot”

The talk looks at Pamela Colman Smith, the artist behind the imagery of the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, in the context of her artistic life and the visual culture surrounding her work.

6 November 2026: Society of Antiquaries of London

The following Friday I’ll be at Burlington House for the Society of Antiquaries of London, speaking on:

“The Afterlife of a Pack: The Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot in Print and Use”

This talk turns from the creation of the deck to what happened afterwards, looking at the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot as a printed object that has been reproduced, customised and used for more than a century.

If you’re attending any of them, come and say hello!
